New DCC office in Kozhikode to be opened in April

AICC general secretary inaugurates new DCC office in Kozhikode with conference halls, library, and auditorium honoring Congress leaders.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary K.C. Venugopal, MP, will inaugurate the District Congress Committee’s new office, K. Karunakaran Memorial Building, in Kozhikode at 11 a.m. on April 5.
DCC president K. Praveen Kumar told reporters on Saturday that the 24,000 sq. ft. building built at a cost of ₹7.5 crore has conference halls, a library, and boarding facilities, besides an auditorium named after the former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
“Busts of former Congress leaders, along with statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, adorn various parts of the building. Special blocks will be named after late Congress leaders K.G. Adiyodi, N.P. Moideen, A. Sujanapal, P. Sankaran, U. Rajeevan, Cyriac John, M. Kamalam, K. Sadirikkoya, and M.T. Padma,” Mr. Praveen Kumar said.
Kozhikode MP M.K. Raghavan was also present at the press meet.
As part of the inauguration, ‘Thirvanotsavam,’ a five-day event, will be held at Kozhikode Beach from April 5 to 9. The celebrations will feature cultural programmes, sports and games, a history seminar, a book fair, a food festival, and conventions for youth, students, farmers, and women.
