Nehru Science Innovations Technology Expo showcases science and technology, emphasizes importance of farmers, critical thinking, and curiosity in education.
A science and technology exhibition named Nehru Science Innovations Technology Expo began at Jawaharlal College of Engineering and Technology, Lakkidi, and Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre, Pampady, on Thursday.
Inaugurating the exhibition, Minister for Power K. Krishnankutty underscored the importance of recognising farmers as nation builders. He lamented that despite their crucial role in feeding the nation, farmers often go unappreciated, unlike Ministers and people’s representatives who receive more recognition.
Stressing the need for an education system and parenting approach to prioritise curiosity, exploration and critical thinking, the Minister raised concern that society had failed to encourage an inquisitive mind among the youth.
Trade Commissioner of Mauritius to India and Nehru Group chairman P. Krishnadas presided over the function. Indian Naval Academy Commandant Vice Admiral C.R. Praveen Nair was the chief guest. Nehru Group Chief Executive Officer P. Krishnakumar, Jawaharlal College of Engineering and Technology Principal N. Gunasekharan, and student coordinator A. Ashiq spoke.
The organisers said that nearly 30,000 students from different colleges in Kerala and Tamil Nadu would take part in the two-day exhibition. S. Jayakrishnan, Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Palakkad, will inaugurate the valedictory function to be held at Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre, Pampady, on Friday.
