The Indian Naval Symphonic Band performed at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchi, on Monday, impressing the audience with musical excellence.
The Indian Naval Symphonic Band performed at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchi, on Monday, impressing the audience with musical excellence. The event was organised by the Naval Armament Inspectorate, Tiruchi, to showcase career opportunities in the Indian Navy and inspire unity and patriotism among the youth.
The concert featured a range of numbers, starting with the patriotic Vande Mataram and ending with the Tri-Service Song. The band, led by Lieutenant Commander Jayabal Padmanabhan, played a variety of music, including symphonic, martial, Indian classical, and contemporary pieces. The audience enjoyed songs from Pirates of the Caribbean, Dil Se, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
To engage with Tamil youth, the band performed eight popular Tamil songs, including Azhagu Malar Aada, Thamizha Thamizha, Leo, and Hey Minnale.
A highlight of the event was the performance on ancient musical instrument, the Ocarina.
The Indian Naval Band was formed in 1945 and has since become famous worldwide. The band is known for playing different styles of music, showcasing India’s ‘Unity in Diversity’.
Lieutenant Commander Jayabal Padmanabhan, noted musician trained in clarinet and trumpet, led the band. He was assisted by assistant conductors Sarat Kumar Singh Babu, Master Chief Petty Officer Musician, and Pal Raj, Chief Petty Officer Musician. The team consists of 39 members in total.
G. Aghila, Director and Officiating Chairperson of the Board of Governors, NIT Tiruchi, was the chief guest at the event. Rear Admiral Satish Shenai, Flag Officer Commanding Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Naval Area, hosted the programme.
