The Mysuru Division of South Western Railway celebrated the 76th Republic Day on Sunday and highlighted its achievements and prioritisation of passenger safety.
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Shilpi Agarwal unfurled the national flag and reviewed a ceremonial parade by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Scouts and Guides at the Railway Sports Ground in Yadavagiri.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Agarwal spoke on the division’s performance and achievements in multiple areas, including financial growth, safety measures, infrastructure enhancements, and passenger services.
She said the division’s total revenue surpassed ₹1,000 crore, with goods revenue amounting to ₹649.44 crore and passenger revenue reaching ₹315.51 crore.
Noting a significant rise in freight operations, she said this included the loading of 73 NMG rakes of automobiles and an impressive increase in food grain transportation.
“The division transported 24.95 million passengers, maintaining an impressive 94% punctuality for mail and express trains. To cater to increased demand during peak seasons, special trains were also introduced connecting popular destinations across the country including Prayagraj, where the Kumbh Mela is being celebrated,” said Ms. Agarwal.
Underlining the division’s commitment to safety, Ms. Agarwal mentioned that 15 Railway Board Safety Drives and two Headquarters Safety Drives were conducted to ensure secure train operations. A large-scale mock drill involving multiple stakeholders was also carried out to enhance emergency preparedness, she added.
