The Canadiens announced on Tuesday that he sustained upper body injuries and that he will be out for three to four weeks.
The collision occured in Utah where the team is playing on Tuesday night.
No further information on the incident was provided by the team and Salt Lake City Police had no information available when contacted by CTV News on Tuesday morning.
The Habs traded Tyler Toffoli to the Calgary Flames in 2022 for Heineman along with Tyler Pitlick, a first-round pick (who became Filip Mesar), and a fifth-round pick in 2023 (Yevgeni Volokhin).
The Florida Panthers drafted Heineman 43rd overall in the 2020 NHL draft.
