MISF!T’s ‘Trident!ty’ to be staged in Bengaluru on February 1 and 2
MISF!T- My Interest Stays Firmly in Theatre, Ratan Thakore Grant’s Acting Studio will stage the second run of their play, Trident!ty. Theplay is directed by Venkatesan Vaidhyanathan and Vishal Nayer.
“This run adds new dimensions, after getting the feedback from our audience,” says Venkatesan over a call from Indiranagar. “The play explores narratives, emotions, relationships, and conflicts in ways that we hope will resonate with the audience. Experimenting with new formats, unexpected twists, and layered narratives, the second run promises an experience that surprises and engages from start to finish.”
Tridenti!ty is a trilogy of connected plays, which Venkatesan describes as a tragicomedy. “The play talks about human relationships. There is a mystery involved as well.”
Audience feedback suggested the play has a repeat value, says Venkatesan. “We also took into consideration what worked and what did not as per audience feedback. The third story in the play centers around office politics. We have changed the narrative from the perpetrator’s to the victim’s perspective.”
The shift, Venkatesan says, is done with humour. “The cast is different from the previous staging, When a new set of actors come in, they bring in a new flavour to the story. It is a journey to a destination using another route.”
As an example, Venkatesan says, in the previous edition, there was an actor who spoke with a Haryanvi accent. “This time, the actor is South Indian, and speaks with a Malayali accent. That changes the dynamics. Subtle changes have been made to the costumes and sets, to create a different experience for the same set of audience”.
Tridenti!ty, Venkatesan says is a complex play. “There was feedback that the play was lengthy. We have included a strategic interval this time, which is part of the story.”
