A Mathematics teacher of a government higher secondary school in Dharmapuri has been arrested under the POCSO Act on charges of sexually harassing girls in his classroom. The action was taken against him on the basis of complaints dropped by more than 10 students in the school complaint box.
According to official sources, the teacher was accused of inappropriate conduct with girl students and flicking chalk pieces at them in the classroom. Examining the complaints, the school headmistresses conducted an inquiry, and upon ascertaining the veracity of the allegations, lodged a complaint at the Dharmapuri All Women’s Police Station.
The accused teacher was arrested and remanded.
