‘Maha Kumbabhishekam’ held in Kaleshwaram

Kaleshwaram, the abode of Sri Kaleshwara Sri Mukteshwara Swamy, in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, came alive with religious fervour as hordes of devotees witnessed ‘Maha Kumbabishekam’ held at the historic temple on Sunday. The sacred ritual was performed by the priests under the aegis of Sri Sachidananda Saraswati, the seer of Sree Mutt, Tuni, Andhra Pradesh. It was followed by the ‘Maha Annadanam’ programme. ‘Maha Kumbabishekam’ was last performed at the temple in 1983, temple sources said. Scores of devotees from both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh besides Maharashtra flocked to Kaleshwaram to witness the mega religious event. They took a holy dip in the Godavari river before participating in the special rituals held on the occasion. Endowments Department Principal Secretary Shailaja Ramaiyer and Jayashankar Bhupalpally Collector Rahul Sharma personally supervised the arrangements for the devotees at the famous pilgrimage centre.
