Madhya Pradesh cabinet approves semiconductor and drone policies ahead of Global Investor Summit in Bhopal.
The Madhya Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday (February 4, 2025) approved various crucial policies such as semi-conductor policy and drone policy, ahead of the Global Investor Summit (GIS) scheduled to take place later this month in the State capital Bhopal.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who chaired his first Cabinet meeting after his four-day visit to Japan to invite investors into the State, told the Ministers that various Japanese companies will be participating in the GIS, scheduled on February 24 and 25, and that Japanese authorities have also assured cooperation in various fields such as metro rail technology for Bhopal and Indore, smart transportation system, smart city and urban planning, water management, and waste management.
Mr. Yadav also said that a blueprint has been prepared to establish a special channel to promote Japanese investment into the State.
The Cabinet approved the Madhya Pradesh Semi-Conductor Policy, 2025, to establish a permanent ecosystem in the State and to develop Madhya Pradesh as an electronics and semiconductor manufacturing hub, Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said, briefing the reporters on the Cabinet decisions.
“The semiconductor manufacturing sector will be significant in moving the State towards long-term industrial development. There will be opportunities to become a leader in global competition. The local economy will be strengthened. It will help in attracting domestic and foreign investors, which will strengthen the economic condition of the state. Industries and start-ups will also get support. Promoting innovation will also help sectors like semiconductor design, R&D and manufacturing,” the Government said, in a statement.
The Cabinet also approved the Madhya Pradesh Drone Promotion and Usage Policy, 2025, with an aim to attract related investment in multiple sectors.
Mr. Vijayvargiya said that the Cabinet also gave its nod for the implementation of the PM Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0, which aims to build 10 lakh houses for the poor and lower-middle class families in the next five years.
