Vikramaditya Motwane’s lush romantic film Lootera (2015), starring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha, will re-release in theatres on March 7, amid the ongoing re-release fervour.
Set in Bengal in the 1950s, the film is an adaptation of O. Henry’s famous short story, The Last Leaf. Gorgeously photographed by Mahendra J. Shetty and achingly scored by Amit Trivedi, the film was well-received upon release, despite being a moderate performer at the box-office.
In Lootera, Ranveer plays a conman, Varun, who falls for a sheltered heiress named Pakhi, played by Sonakshi. Vikrant Massey, then a television star, made his mark on the big screen in role of Ranveer’s sidekick named Dev. The film also featured veteran Bengali actor Barun Chanda, playing a large-hearted and trusting zamindar and Pakhi’s father.
Lootera is being re-released in theatres by PVR INOX.
Recently, another romantic film, Sanam Teri Kasam, starring Harshvardhan Rane, became re-release hit, drawing enthusiastic crowds to theatres. The film, according to reports, has collected ₹31.35 crore at the box-office in its second innings. r
