Woman trampled to death by elephant near Lower Camp reserve forest, sparking fear among villagers.
A woman worker was trampled to death by a lone elephant near Lower Camp reserve forest.
According to reports from the forest officials, Saraswathi and her husband Pichai Kutti lived in Vettukaadu near Lower Camp. They both worked in local farms as daily wagers. It is said that on Sunday when she was returning home after working in a private farm, a lone elephant suddenly came and within a few minutes, it trampled the woman killing her on the spot.
After some workers raised an alarm, the elephant went away inside the forest.
Meanwhile, the villagers said that the forest officials should save them from wild animals because they lived in fear constantly.
The body was sent to the Government Hospital for post-mortem. Further investigation is on.
