
Lifetime achievement award for Jipmer acting chief

Gautam Roy honored with Lifetime Achievement Award at PUDUCON’25 conference focusing on public health partnerships and critical issues.
Gautam Roy, acting director of Jipmer was presented the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of public health during the recently-organised conference co-hosted by the Puducherry chapters of the Indian Public Health Association (IPHA) and Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM).
The two-day joint State conference, PUDUCON’25, centred on the theme ‘Promoting Health Through Partnerships’.
The discussions revolved around critical public health issues, like mental health, climate change, medical certification of cause of deaths and publicly-funded health insurance scheme.
Experts from various fields deliberated on topics like vector-borne disease control, AI solutions in public health and importance of ‘One Health’. Speakers shared updates on the National TB elimination programme and immunisation programme.
The conference also featured two capacity building workshops on “Infectious Disease Modelling” and “Health Technology Assessment”. Research project findings covering a variety of themes, including maternal and child health, communicable and non-communicable diseases, public health nutrition and environmental health were presented by the delegates.
Earlier, V. Ravichandran, Health Director, inaugurated the meet. Sitanshu Sekhar Kar, Secretary, IPHA, Puducherry shared the vision of IPHA in fostering collaboration among various stakeholders to address complex and emerging public health challenges in Puducherry.
