Karnataka Budget 2025 highlights: Here are key figures released by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the Karnataka budget 2025-26
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah presented the State budget for 2025-26 in the legislature today (March 7, 2025), outlining how his government plans to spend around ₹4.09 lakh crore in the coming year. This budget is the biggest ever for the State.

Mr. Siddaramaiah laid out six key focus areas in his budget speech - “people-oriented” welfare initiatives, agriculture and rural development, increased investment in infrastructure, health and education, urban development, job creation and governance reforms.
Overall, education was given the most allocation in the budget (₹45,286 crores), or about 10% of the budget. Here is the gross allocations for different areas.
When it comes to fiscal deficit, the budget estimate for 2025-26 is set at 2.95% of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). This is within the norm of 3%. Fiscal deficit is the difference between total receipts and total expenditure. It is a measure that indicates how much the government has to borrow, with a higher number denoting higher borrowing requirements.
Karnataka’s total expenditure is budgeted to be ₹4.09 lakh crore for FY ‘26, which is ₹40,000 crores or almost 12% more than the revised estimate of FY ‘25 (Rs. 3.65 lakh crores). Out of the ₹4.09 lakh crores, ₹3.11 lakh crores is the revenue expenditure and ₹71,336 crores is the capital expenditure.
