Kerala DySP booked for drunk and reckless driving in Alappuzha

Kerala police officer arrested for reckless driving under the influence of alcohol, released on bail.
The Aroor police in Alappuzha district of Kerala have registered a case against State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) DySP V. Anil for reckless driving under the influence of alcohol.
He has been booked under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act (driving by a drunken person) and Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (rash driving). The incident occurred on Sunday (February 9, 2025) night.
Local residents had alerted the police about an official police vehicle being driven recklessly.
Officials said Mr. Anil was taken into custody from Chandiroor after a breathalyzer test confirmed he was intoxicated.
He was later taken to a hospital for a medical examination.
After recording his arrest, Mr. Anil was released on bail, said a police official.
