The Karnataka Budget 2025-26 presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on March 7 promises, among other things, a world class film city at a cost of ₹500 crore and state-of-the-art bus stand at a cost of ₹120 crore for Mysuru.
Both the projects had been in the news over the last few months, and find mention in the State Budget.
The Film City proposed to be set up at Immavu village near Nanjangud on the outskirts of Mysuru falls in Varuna Assembly segment represented by Mr Siddaramaiah in the legislative Assembly.
The Film City will come up in Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, and 150 acres of land has already been transferred to the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Mr Siddaramaiah said while presenting the Budget.
By setting up studios, theatres, theme parks and hotels, the Film City is expected to boost film tourism and provide jobs and sources of livelihood for the locals. The Film City is expected to come up over the next few years.
The ₹120 crore state-of-the-art bus stand in Mysuru is expected to come up at Bannimantap where KSRTC already operates its bus depot.
The new bus stand is expected to relieve the existing bus stand on Bengaluru-Nilgiri Road from the chaos and congestion it faces due to the large number of services it operates.
