John Wesley elected as CPI (M)’s Telangana State secretary

John Wesley elected as CPI (M) Telangana State Secretary, first dalit to hold position, replacing Tammineni Veerabhadram.
Senior CPI (Marxist) leader John Wesley has been elected as the party’s Telangana State Secretary becoming the first dalit to occupy the top post at the State level.
Mr. Wesley has been elected as part of the CPI (M)’s four-day State conference which concluded at Sangareddy on Tuesday (January 28, 2025). He replaces senior leader Tammineni Veerabhadram who could not get accommodation in the State committee since he crossed 70 years.
Mr. Wesley, a native of Amarachinta in the united Mahbubanagar district, was attracted to the left movement since his college days. Joining the Radical Students League in 1990, he shifted to the CPI (M) in 1996 and served the party in different capacities. He was associated with the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), youth wing of the CPI (M), for few years when he actively participated in agitations before being appointed to the party’s State committee.
During RDC 2025 at Delhi, Cadet Sgt Shreyas Sudip Mitra of 1 Karnataka Air Sqn NCC won the coveted Prime Minister’s Baton for Best Senior Division Air Wing Cadet while four other cadets ended up with individual runners-up medals in the Best Cadet competition. The directorate contingent was also the overall best performing directorate in RDC – 2025.
