JMM celebrates 46th foundation day in Dumka with Chief Minister Hemant Soren, highlighting party achievements and promises fulfilled.
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) celebrated its 46th foundation day on Sunday (February 2, 2025) at Gandhi Maidan in Dumka. Chief Minister Hemant Soren reached Dumka by charter plane to participate in the event with his wife and Gandey MLA Kalpana Soren. Mr. Soren was given a grand welcome at the airport and a guard of honour.
A rally was organised, led by Rajmahal MP Vijay Hansda and Dumka MLA Basant Soren, younger brother of the Jharkhand Chief Minister. Thousands of party workers participated, and marched from Santhal Pargana Mahavidyalaya to Gandhi Maidan.
Party workers and his supporters from all six districts of Santhal Pargana, Dumka, Deoghar, Jamtara, Pakur, Sahibganj, and Godda were present at the rally in large numbers.
Mr. Soren, who is also the executive president of the party, expressed his gratitude to party workers. The city was filled with hoardings and banners along with Toran Dwars.
Dumka MLA Basant Soren, who organised the event, said that the energy shown by the people in the recent Jharkhand assembly elections has strengthened the party.
He asserted that the JMM is working day and night to meet the expectations of people. He said that owing to political instability last year, the JMM was unable to celebrate the event properly.
“Water, forest, and land is the mantra of our party; it is important to save the tribals who are natives of Jharkhand. We believe that this is the ideal time to realise Dishom Guru’s (Shibu Soren, JMM founder) dreams,” Mr. Basant Soren said told the media.
This is part of the Karnataka Namakarana Suvarna Mahotsava celebrations organised to mark the naming of the State as ‘Karnataka’ during the tenure of the late D. Devaraj Urs. The statue, sculpted at an approximate cost of ₹21.24 crore, is 41-foot-tall including the pedestal and weighs around 31.5 tonnes.
