Ministry of Home Affairs appoints Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal as Additional Director-General of Police, BSF, for four years.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has cleared the appointment of Director-General of Police, Armed Police, Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal, to the Border Security Force.
The 1994-Batch IPS officer belonging to the Tamil Nadu cadre will be posted as Additional Director-General of Police, BSF, for a period of four years.
According to police sources, the Government of India communicated the decision to the Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary with a request that the officer be relieved at the earliest.
As ADGP, Mr. Aggarwal had served as Commissioner of Police, Chennai, and headed the Operations, Enforcement Bureau and Armed Police units where he launched various schemes, including Drive Against Drugs. Kaaval Karangal. He had also launched a slew of police welfare schemes. He was the State Police Nodal Officer of the Election Commission of India in the last Lok Sabha election and Member-Secretary, Tamil Nadu Police Commission.
In his previous stint in the Union Government, Mr. Aggarwal served in the Central Bureau of Investigation as its Joint Director in Chandigarh. He is the recipient of the President Police Medal for Distinguished Service and Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
