The police organised a 3-km run to create awareness about the ‘Kaaval Uthavi’ App and women’s helpline No. 181. The run was flagged off by Tiruchi Commissioner of Police N. Kamini at T.V.S. Toll Gate, and ended at Students’ Road.
In her inaugural address, Ms. Kamini encouraged women and girls to use the 181 helpline in case of an emergency. The run saw a good response from over 500 police officers, and students from city colleges. Prizes were given away after the event.
Women In Public Sector (WIPS) of BHEL Tiruchi organised a programme to mark Women’s Day at its Human Resource Development Centre. Rukmani Priyadarshini, Superintendent of Women’s Prison, Tiruchi, and vice-principal, State Institute of Correctional Administration, underlined the importance of physical and mental health, and urged women to share domestic chores with family members.
S. Prabhakar, executive director, BHEL Tiruchi Complex, presented notebooks to deserving students, a sanitary napkin incinerator, and cash assistance for the breakfast scheme of Sarada Middle School on behalf of WIPS.
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College felicitated three women achievers for their contribution to society as part of the celebrations. The SRC-Woman of Excellence Award for Social Service was conferred upon P. Kalaiarasi, founder and managing director of Poornodhaya Trust.
M. Thamilselvi, consultant at Arul Hospital, was honoured with the SRC-Inspiring Woman Award for Health Care while S. Rajeswari, founder, Preeti Herbal, received the SRC-Trailblazer Woman of Excellence Award for Entrepreneurship. The awards were presented by Madhavi Kannan, management member, Padmabhushan Sri N. Ramaswami Ayyar Educational Complex.
