Forest Department and Fire and Rescue Services save Indian rock python near Coimbatore.
The Forest Department staff and personnel from the Fire and Rescue Services rescued an Indian rock python that was spotted in a farm near Coimbatore on Friday.
According to the Forest Department, a python was found in a farm close to the forest at Gudalur Kavundampalayam on Friday morning. The python could not move away as it had a heavy meal.
After being alerted by residents, fire brigades from Periyanaickenpalayam station rushed to the spot. Residents also alerted the Forest Department and staff from Periyanaickenpalayam range came to the farm.
As fire brigades and forest staff rescued the python, it started regurgitating its meal. Soon, the snake ejected through its mouth a spotted deer that it had eaten.
Forest staff took the python to the Thadagam reserve forest and released it into the wild. A forest official said the farm, where the python was found, is located less than one km from the forest. Incidents of pythons entering farms are often reported, he said.
