76th Republic Day celebrations in Mysuru led by Minister H.C. Mahadevappa, emphasizing Constitutional values and government welfare schemes.
The 76th Republic Day celebrations in Mysuru were marked by patriotic fervour and zeal, and the Minister for Social Welfare H.C. Mahadevappa led the main celebrations held at Bannimantap Ground here on Sunday.
After unfurling the national flag and reviewing the parade and the marchpast presented by the armed police, Mr. Mahadevappa addressed the gathering and underlined the importance of abiding by the Constitutional norms in the present times.
He said it is only by adhering to the Constitutional norms that the values of equality, freedom, and brotherhood, enshrined in the Constitution, become meaningful.
The Minister said it was also important for the people of the country to dedicate themselves to establishing a healthy and robust society.
Mr. Mahadevappa paid tributes to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the members of the Drafting Committee established by the Constituent Assembly to draft the Constitution.
The Constitution of India was given a final shape after prolonged discussion by the members and which in its final form, bestowed equal rights on all, he said.
This is the day on which the Constitution of India came into effect and the country became a Sovereign, Democratic, and Republic State, said Mr. Mahadevappa. It underscored the equality of all citizens irrespective of their social and economic status before the law, and one should pay tribute to all those who nurtured democracy during its early days, he added.
