The Hotel Owners’ Association of Mysuru on Tuesday organised a programme on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) to educate its members on the tax system and clear confusion, if any.
The association said it will organise a similar session with GST officials soon. However, it had decided to hold a session with the chartered accountants first to help members and others paying the GST get to know more about the system and get their queries answered.
Association president C. Narayana Gowda, members Ravi Shastri, C.A. Mahesh, and others attended the inaugural session.
One of the members said that many of them were unaware of certain aspects of the GST and the session was an attempt to sensitise them on many issues related to GST and to help them understand it better. Despite running a trade, some people were not aware of the GST.
In his presentation, Mr. Mahesh spoke on common mistakes made and why it was important for every trader and taxpayer to understand GST.
