Hindu organisations demand release of ISKCON leader in Bangladesh, urging government to ensure safety and fair treatment.
Various Hindu organisations have demanded the immediate release of ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, who has been held in Bangladesh under various charges, including provocation and sedition.
In a joint statement here, they urged the Government of Bangladesh to ensure the safety and fair treatment of Chinmoy Krishna Das and other individuals named in this case, in accordance with national and international human rights laws.
Expressing grave concern over the arrest by the Detective Branch of the Bangladesh Police on November 25 at Dhaka, the organisations said the move raised serious concerns about freedom of speech, religious harmony, and the protection of minority communities in Bangladesh.
They urged the Bangladesh government to address the broader concerns of communal harmony and protection of minority rights in that country.
“This arrest not only undermines democratic principles but also sets a dangerous precedent for the suppression of religious leaders and minority voices. We stand in solidarity with the Hindu community in Bangladesh and reaffirm our commitment to advocating for justice, equality, and freedom for all.”
The organisations including the Chinmaya Mission, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Art of Living, Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Hindu Munnani, Sabarimala Iyyappa Seva Samaj, Vidya Bharathi, Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, Anaithu Maravar Pothunala Sangam, Anaithu Chettiarkal Munnetra Peravai, Tamilnadu Kurumbar Makkal Munnetra Sangam, Indian Fisherman Association, Akila India Veera Vanniya Kula Kshatriya Pathugapu Sangam, All India Nadar Federation, Integrated Nethaji Association, Sivasambava Seva Sangam and Shri Andaal Baktargal Peravai called upon international human rights organisations to urgently intervene and monitor the situation to prevent any violations of fundamental rights, said a release here.
