Govt. committed to eradicating poverty among tribal communities, asserts Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Paying tributes to Sant Sevalal, a social and religious reformer, and spiritual guru of the Banjaras, on his birth anniversary, the Chief Minister promises to take steps to realise his ideals and uplift the tribal people in all ways. TDP founder and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao had implemented various welfare programmes for the tribal people, he says, adding that P4 policy will be implemented from Ugadi, the Telugu new year.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed his resolve to eradicate poverty among various tribes and protect the laws meant for their well-being.
“A plan of action has been drawn for the purpose. The government will uplift the tribal people in every possible way,” Mr. Naidu asserted while paying tributes to Sant Sevalal Maharaj, the spiritual guru of Banjara community, on the occasion of his birth anniversary on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Naidu said the TDP founder and former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao (NTR) had implemented various welfare programmes for the tribal people and, inspired by it, the party went a step further and gave the tribal communities political opportunities that empowered them.
Mr. Naidu pointed out that NTR had demonstrated how to serve the poor, particularly the tribal people, and following in his footsteps, the government took measures for improving their living conditions.
A host of schemes were being implemented for the tribal people living in the hilly areas as well as the Yanadis, Banjaras and Chenchus staying on the plains, he said, adding that a ‘zero poverty’ plan had been devised for them.
The government would start implementing the P4 (Public-Private-People partnership) policy from Ugadi, the Telugu new year (March 30), and that its objective was to generate wealth with the help of the top 10% of the population, Mr. Naidu said.
Further, he said the government would strive to realise Sant Sevalal’s ideals and uplift the tribal people in all ways, while recalling that the TDP ensured their political empowerment by making them MLAs and Ministers, and cited as example the appointment of Chandulal from Warangal as a Minister.
