He was speaking at the inauguration of the fifth day of Ponniyathankam held at Ezharakandam under the leadership of the Kerala Folklore Academy, Kathiroor grampanchayat and Patayam Gopalan Memorial Library, Pullodi, on Tuesday (February 25, 2025).
“Even if we think or dress differently, the threads connecting our culture are the same. Festival like these convey the message that we are all one. Progress come from togetherness.” the Governor said highlighting Kerala’s cultural diversity.
He described the Ponniyathankam as the “Kumbha Mela of art” and lauded the event for showcasing Kerala’s rich traditions.
Legislative assembly speaker A.N. Shamseer presided over the event, while MLA K.K Shailaja teacher, district panchayat president K.K Ratnakumar, Kathiroor grampanchayat president P. P. Sanal, Thalassery and others addressed the gathering.
The day featured performances including a women’s mega hand dance, yoga dance and Kalaripayattu demonstrtation by Yoddha Kalari, Vishwa Bharat Kalari, Payyampally Kalari and Kadathanadu Kalari.
