Four-day ‘Nirdiganta Utsava’ in Mangaluru from February 28

Nirdiganta Utsava in Mangaluru, featuring plays, Yakshagana, and cultural sessions, organized by Prakash Raj's incubation centre.
Nirdiganta, an incubation centre for theatre and arts situated in K. Shetihalli, a village in Srirangapatna and promoted by actor Prakash Raj, will organise ‘Nirdigantha Utsava’ in Mangaluru for four days from February 28.
The utsava to be held in the premises of at St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University) will feature staging of plays, Yakshagana, singing songs and sessions on current affairs in the coastal belt.
Addressing press persons in Mangaluru on Saturday, Mr. Raj said that about 60 delegates from the coastal belt are expected to attend the utsava.
Senior writer and chairman of Karnataka Development Authority Purushottama Bilimale will deliver the key note address on the inaugural day at 10.30 a.m.
In all, eight dramas, including Tulu, Konkani, and Malayalam, will be performed at the festival.
They are For a Bite of Food (directed by Shakeel Ahmed and performed by Spinning Tree Theatre of Vijayapura) and Gudiya Nodiranna (directed by Mahadeva Hadapada and staged by Aatamada of Dharwad) on February 28; Hyangan (Konkani drama directed by Klenwin, Ranga Adhyayana Kendra, Mangaluru) and Kuhu: Anthology On the Riles (Malayalam directed by Arun Lal, Little Earth School of Theatre, Kerala) on March 1.
Rasidi Ticket (directed by Savitha Rani and staged by Nirdiganta) and Tindige Banda Tunderaya (directed by Shakeel Ahmed and performed by Nirdiganta) will be staged on March 2.

Flagging the issue that tenders for the supply of train sets/rolling stocks floated by the State government for the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP) had failed thrice, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who was in the city on Saturday, said that Railways was now proposing to supply the train sets for BSRP.
