Former MP M. Ramadass emphasizes voter awareness and unbiased voting to elect the right representatives for good governance.
Former MP and president of Puducherry Maanila Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam M. Ramadass has stressed the need to create awareness among voters on the importance of exercising their franchise without succumbing to any inducement.
Participating in an event organised by PMMMK to celebrate National Voters Day at Tamil Sangham office, he said every citizen has got a responsibility to exercise their franchise.
“We appeal to all 10.1 lakh voters of Puducherry to vote in all future elections without fail in an unbiased and objective manner to elect the right representative for ensuring good governance. Awareness should be created among the public not to vote based on caste, language, religion and creed. Voters in general should not succumb to money and other voter inducement. There is a need for awareness on these aspects,” the economist-turned politician said.
The youth, especially first-time voters should exercise their franchise. The country which is the largest democracy survives because of the robust electoral system and voter awareness, he said. The party organised various events, including quiz competition to create awareness on voting.
