A fire broke out at a scrap godown in Vazhakkala near Kakkanad on Sunday (January 5, 2025) morning, following which residents and others in the immediate vicinity were evacuated to safety.
Fire tenders from Trikkakara Fire and Rescue Service station were engaged in dousing the fire that occurred at a godown located in a narrow road in the residential area.
The incident comes a month after a scrap godown at Ernakulam South was gutted in a fire, following which residents in nearby areas were evacuated to safety.
Train services were disrupted briefly due to this incident.
