Indian Union Muslim League MLA warns of agitation if State government doesn't resolve supply issue at Kozhikode hospital.
M.K. Muneer, Indian Union Muslim League MLA, has warned of launching an agitation if the State government does not solve the stalemate at the Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode, after distributors of drugs and surgical devices stopped their supply from January 10.
He was delivering a speech on Sunday (January 19) after opening a 24-hour fast undertaken by M.K. Raghavan, MP, outside the hospital, in protest against the alleged government’s apathy in not addressing the issue. A release from the MP’s office said that even nine days after the distributors stopped the supply, the authorities were not concerned about the plight of the patients. He claimed that the functioning of the outpatient department at the hospital had been affected and people from six districts in north Kerala had been denied medicines and proper treatment. The fast would conclude at 8 a.m. on January 20. U.K. Kumaran, writer, would speak at the event, the release added.
