Registration of properties, marriage, and other documents at the offices of sub-registrars in Mangaluru and other parts of Karnataka has come to a virtual halt with the malfunctioning of Kaveri-2 software.
Registration of properties, marriage, and other documents at the offices of sub-registrars in Mangaluru and other parts of Karnataka has come to a virtual halt with the malfunctioning of Kaveri-2 software.
As many as 24 registrations were scheduled at the Mangaluru Rural sub-registrar’s office on Tuesday. The same number of registrations were also scheduled at Mangaluru city sub-registrar’s office on the same day. But nothing could be registered as both ‘customer login’ and ‘official login’ of Kaveri-2 were not working.
“We are not able to do any registration since morning. If our official login is not functional till evening we will return the documents to customers waiting outside. Later, they will have to take another date for completion of registration,” said an official at Mangaluru Rural sub-registrar office.
While a few people waited outside the sub-registrar’s offices, many left the place hoping to come back at a later date. Kaveri-2 software is not functioning since February 1. On an average, 60 registration of properties are done daily in each of the two sub-registrar’s offices in Mangaluru.
President of Mangaluru Bar Association H.V. Raghavendra said in a statement that the customer login of Kaveri-2 software has not been working since February 1 . Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has failed to look into the root cause of the problem and only said the problem will be addressed shortly.
Mr. Raghavendra said the technical problem in logging into Kaveri-2 has affected people and advocates. The government has to address the problem at the earliest. If not, the association will take legal steps for redressal of this serious issue, he stated.
Inspector General of Stamps and Registration K.V. Dayananda admitted that registration process across Karnataka has been affected since February 1. Efforts are being made to address the problem at the earliest, Mr. Dayananda told The Hindu.
