Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L. Murugan on Friday (January 24, 2025) alleged the DMK was “enacting a drama” on the tungsten mining issue as the Tamil Nadu government had not raised any objections during the pre-auction stage of the project in Madurai district.
Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L. Murugan on Friday (January 24, 2025) alleged the DMK was “enacting a drama” on the tungsten mining issue as the Tamil Nadu government had not raised any objections during the pre-auction stage of the project in Madurai district.
“The DMK and Tamil Nadu government are engaged in childish theatrics on the mining issue. They did not raise any objection regarding the project from 2021-24. There were several communications from the Ministry, but the Tamil Nadu government did not raise any objection. Only during the auction stage did the DMK protest,” he told journalists on the sidelines of a function in Puducherry.
Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy for their intervention in the issue, Mr. Murugan said the Central government decided to annul the auction of mineral block after understanding the concerns of farmers and residents of Nayakkarpatti in Madurai. The Central government stood by the people of the village and acted on public interest, he said.
