Dilapidated Chennai Corporation school building to be repaired

A dilapidated Chennai Corporation primary school building on Muthiah Sathyavani Muthu Nagar in Ward 59 of the Harbour Legislative Assembly constituency is set to be repaired. This was decided during a drive conducted on Thursday (January 9, 2025) by the elected representatives to resolve the city’s civic issues.

Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments and Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority P.K. Sekar Babu, with Mayor R. Priya and Regional Deputy Commissioner (North) Katta Ravi Teja, inspected the school, a release stated. Mr. Babu ordered the officials of the Greater Chennai Corporation to repair the building as soon as possible.
Residents of the locality had also raised concerns about the lack of playground facilities. The minister then instructed the officials to improve these facilities for students, according to the release.
As part of the drive, the minister and elected representatives also visited other areas in the ward to identify and address civic issues reported by residents.
This is the seventh day of the drive initiated after directions from Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. Officials from the Corporation, Metrowater, and the Electricity Board, along with councillors and elected representatives, were present during the inspection.
