Deputy Commissioner asked to shift to new building in a month’s time

Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda and District in charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Sunday directed Deputy Commissioner M.P. Mullai Muhilan to shift in a month to his office in the new office complex that has come up in Padil in Mangaluru.

After going around the office complex on Sunday, the two Ministers asked Mr. Muhilan to move in first, along with other district offices. “The departments, who are desiring to move in to the new building, should make use of their funds to refurbish the space and start working from the new premises,” Mr. Gowda said.

Seeing the big room and conference hall that have been allotted for the offices of the district in-charge Minister and the MP, the two Ministers said the conference hall can be used by other departments. The Ministers were greatly impressed with the office space allocated to Speaker and Mangaluru MLA U.T. Khader.

Mr. Muhilan said remaining space in the building can be allocated for offices of Enforcement Directorate and other Central government agencies.

When Mr. Muhilan sought additional funds. Mr. Gowda said funds will not be problem. The government will grant funds to meet all requirements of the new building. “But start working from the new building at the earliest,” Mr. Gowda told Mr. Muhilan.

Mr. Rao said master plan is being devised for use of the heritage building and the old building of Deputy Commissioner in Hampankatta. Apart from making this a place that will be visited by people, the District administration has planned to developed them as a museum and cultural centre, he said.

The two Ministers were accompanied by Manjunath Bhandary and Ivan D’Souza, MLCs.
