Consumer terminal launched at Collectorate to promote awareness of government schemes and consumer rights, fostering transparency and fair practices.
A consumer terminal was inaugurated at the Collectorate by Collector A.K. Kamal Kishore on Thursday.
The centre aims to promote awareness of schemes and announcements of the Department of Food Supply and Consumer protection.
In order to create awareness among the public, a consumer terminal has been launched by the State government at all district collectorates. The terminal is equipped with a digital board that displays information about the consumer rights, details about the distribution of free dhotis, sarees for the Pongal, information on government schemes and consumer protection acts.
An official from the department said it would help to educate the people about their rights as consumers, ensuring that they were informed about the protection available under consumer laws.
The terminal will disseminate information about the government schemes and initiatives related to food supply, fair pricing and consumer welfare.
The official further added that by promoting fair practices and acts, it will foster transparency in the market and ensure businesses adhere to regulations.
Additionally, it will also ensure the availability and quality of essential commodities by addressing hoarding, price hikes and adulteration. The initiative is expected to benefit the public and create more informed and responsible consumer community.
