Coast Guard hosts ‘Day at Sea’ event to mark its 49th anniversary

Coast Guard District Headquarters celebrates 49th Raising Day with Governor of Kerala at Day at Sea event.
The Coast Guard District Headquarters (Kerala and Mahe) conducted a ‘Day at Sea’ event on Saturday (February 1) to mark the 49th Raising Day of the Indian Coast Guard.
Governor of Kerala Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar was the chief guest. A ceremonial guard was paraded upon his arrival onboard ICGS Samarth, following which personnel on Coast Guard ships and other assets demonstrated various operations, including search and rescue, pollution response, anti-piracy and boarding, vertical replenishment, a steam-past by ships, and a fly-past by aircraft.
The Coast Guard vessels Samarth, Saksham, Arnvesh, Abhinav, C-410, C-162, and AB Urja Pravaha, along with Dornier and Chetak aircraft, participated in the event. N. Ravi, DIG and Commander, Coast Guard Kerala and Mahe, received the Governor onboard to witness the demonstrations, according to a press release.
Terming the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday as a mixed bag with a special focus on the middle class and the state of Bihar, Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCI), a body of traders and industrialists, expressed its displeasure by stating that the budget did not consider the major demands from Kalyana Karnataka region.
