Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan visits injured MLA Uma Thomas in hospital, wishes her speedy recovery after accident.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday (January 17) wished injured Congress MLA Uma Thomas a speedy recovery after he visited her at a private hospital in Kochi, where she is undergoing treatment following the incident on December 29.
Ms. Thomas, who sustained severe injuries to the head and lungs after she fell from a temporary stage set up at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium at Kaloor during a mass dance event, thanked the Chief Minister for the support extended to her. “The government had swiftly formed a medical board after I was admitted to the hospital,” she said.
Mr. Vijayan, who recalled the shocking visuals of the accident, said Ms. Thomas had a miraculous escape. The MLA, representing the Thrikkakara constituency, told the Chief Minister that she had no memory about the accident. “I was shocked when the doctors showed me the footage of the incident,” she said.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal and CPI(M) Ernakulam district secretary C.N. Mohanan.
The health condition of Ms. Thomas had shown considerable improvement, and she was shifted to a room from the intensive care unit on January 9. She has also started walking with external support and is expected to be discharged within a few days.
