Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directs Telangana Education Commission to create efficient policy for education system improvement.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed the Telangana Education Commission to prepare a comprehensive policy document for making the education system more efficient and effective.
The Education Commission should prepare the document reflecting the ground realities and effort should be made to see that the recommendations are implementable. The government is prepared to bear expenses, whatever be the magnitude of the spending, on establishing effective education system to ensure that quality education is made available to students.
The Chief Minister made these comments during a review meeting with members of the Education Commission to identify the lapses in the existing system and reforms that should be ushered in to improve the situation. The government had accorded priority to education sector and had accordingly taken steps to appoint teachers, amma adarsha committees, distribution of school uniforms and textbooks to students and the plans to set up Young India Integrated Residential Schools and Young India Skills University in this direction.
He underscored the need for strengthening primary education as it would lay the foundation for students to excel in their higher studies. The Education Commission should hold discussions with anganwadis, experts and other stakeholders while preparing the policy document. Suggestions and recommendations should ensure that the State could utilise its available resources effectively and ensure that Telangana would take a lead in ushering in a system that would be a role model for others to emulate.
Former bureaucrat and Chairman of the Education Commission Akunuri Murali spoke on the experiences of the Commission during its visit to different States as well as countries abroad, through a power point presentation. Foundation for Democratic Reforms general secretary Jayaprakash Narayan explained about the changes in the education system since 1960s that gradually reduced the creative angle as well as the thought process of students in the country. He suggested measures to bring in changes in the examination system, frequent checks of educational institutions and improvement of life skills.
