The Greater Chennai City Traffic Police (GCTP) have announced traffic diversions in view of the Republic Day celebrations to be held on January 26 and the rehearsals scheduled on January 20, 22, and 24 on Kamarajar Salai.

The Gandhi Statue-War Memorial stretch on Kamarajar Salai will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 6.00 a.m. till the function/rehearsal is complete (tentatively at 9.30 a.m.).
Commercial vehicles coming from Adyar and proceeding towards Parrys Corner on Kamarajar Salai will be diverted at Greenways Point towards R.K. Mutt Road, Thiruvenkadam Street, Devanathan Street, St. Mary’s Road, Venkatesa Agraharam Road, Dr. Ranga Road, East Abiramapuram 1st Road, Ramachandra Rao Road, Luz Avenue, Amrutanjan Junction, P.S. Sivasamy Salai, Nilgiris Point, Music Academy, T.T.K. Road, Gowdia Mutt Road, Royapettah High Road, G.R.H., Tower Clock, G.P. Road, and Anna Salai to reach Broadway.
Other vehicles, including MTC buses coming from Adyar, proceeding towards Parrys Corner on Kamarajar Salai will be diverted at Gandhi Statue. Those vehicles will be diverted towards R.K. Salai, Nilgiris Point, Music Academy, T.T.K. Road, Gowdia Mutt Road, Royapettah High Road, G.R.H., Tower Clock, G.P. Road, and Anna Salai to reach Broadway.
All vehicles coming from Mylapore and Dr. Radhakrishnan Road at Royapettah I Point, including MTC buses, are directed to take a compulsory left towards Nilgiris, Music Academy, T.T.K. Road, Gowdia Mutt Road, G.R.H., and Tower Clock to reach their destination. Other vehicles can take a left turn/right turn to teach their destination.
No vehicle will be allowed beyond Dr. Natesan Road X Avvai Shanmugam Salai Junction towards Kamarajar Salai. Such vehicles will be diverted towards the Ice House Junction. Similarly, vehicles will not be permitted beyond Dr. Besant Road-Dr. Kamarajar Salai Junction towards Kamarajar Salai; they will be diverted at Ice House Junction towards T.H. Road.
Vehicles will also not be allowed beyond Bharathi Salai X Bells Road Junction towards Kamarajar Salai; they will be diverted towards Bells Road. No vehicle will be permitted beyond Wallajah Road-Bells Road Junction towards Kamarajar Salai. These vehicles will be diverted towards Bells Road.
