According to a press release, the door-to-door collection of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste was done by sanitation workers from January 11 to 16. Daily collection ranged from 5,424 tonnes to 6,233 tonnes, contributing to the total waste disposed of in all 15 zones, it stated.
This included 87.32 tonnes of unused materials such as 31.79 tonnes of old clothes, 18.80 tonnes of tyres and tubes, 24.14 tonnes of plastic items, and 12.31 tonnes of other materials, gathered during a special drive from January 11 to 13, the release said.
