Cutting-edge electric vehicle prototype by CET for Shell Eco-marathon 2025, featuring sustainable design and innovative technology.
The College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram (CET) formally unveiled a cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) prototype on Friday.
Developed by the CET’s technical club, Folium Eco-Drive, the vehicle is set to compete in the prestigious Shell Eco-marathon 2025, scheduled to take place at Doha, Qatar, from February 8 to 12. Folium Eco-Drive will represent Kerala as the only team from the State in this global competition.
The prototype stands out with its advanced design and sustainable engineering. One of its unique features is the use of body panels made from a blend of flax fibre and plastic fibre. These materials contribute to the vehicle’s lightweight structure, enhancing both its aerodynamics and energy efficiency. The project also integrates emerging hub motor technology, paired with a highly compact motor controller no larger than an ATM card, further optimising its performance.
In addition to its remarkable design, the vehicle’s development was supported by various local collaborators in Kochuveli, who assisted in the manufacturing of many components.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), probing the death of contractor, Sachin Panchal, who allegedly ended his life in Bidar on December 26 last year, arrested five persons, including the prime accused Rajkumar Kapnoor, a former member of the Kalaburagi Mahanagara Palike, and reportedly a follower of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister, Priyank Kharge, on Friday.
