Budget 2025: Fund of Funds for startups announced

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveils Fund of Funds for Startups in her eighth budget presentation, promoting entrepreneurship and access to credit.
In her record eight budget presentation on Saturday (February 1, 2025), Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a Fund of Funds for Startups to promote entreprenuership in the Union Budget for 2025 in Parliament.

To improve access to credit, the credit guarantee cover will be enhanced, which will also include start-ups, Ms. Sitharaman noted.
Noting that alternative investment funds have received commitments of more than ₹91,000 crore, Ms. Sitharaman announced that a new Fund of Funds with expanded scope and a fresh contribution of another ₹10, 000 crore will be set up for start-ups.
A new scheme was also announced to benefit five lakh women and Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe first-time entrepreneurs.
In 2022, ActionAid conducted a survey to evaluate the status of RWH systems in Namma Metro infrastructure in Bengaluru. According to the ActionAid survey, an ideal RWH system includes pipes leading rainwater to percolate and recharge groundwater. However, their findings revealed that 8 pipes were found to be broken, 4 pits were clogged, 7 were filled with trash, 60 were not visible near the pillars, 5 water storage tanks were broken, among other problems in places where the system was implemented.
