BJP will not scrap ongoing welfare schemes in Delhi, says Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah attacks AAP, accusing them of lies, broken promises, scams, and corruption ahead of Delhi election.
Attacking the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed three rallies in the national capital on Saturday (January 25, 2025), ahead of the Delhi Assembly election.
Alleging that the AAP kept on lying, Mr. Shah said that though its leaders had promised not to take bungalows and cars, they did; in fact “they constructed a ‘sheesh mahal’ [palace]”, a reference to party chief Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence.
Mr. Shah alleged that inside the sheesh mahal, there were facilities such as gold toilet, remote-controlled curtains and doors, and much more”. With whose money was it built, he asked.
He added that the AAP had said that it would not join hands with the Congress, but it did, just like how Mr. Kejriwal had said “we will not start a political party”, but he did. The AAP leaders said they would not be corrupt, but they had become so.
The BJP leader also listed the major “scams” of the AAP in all sectors of the capital, including panic buttons in taxis, fake medicines and tests in Mohalla clinics and liquor scam. Mr. Shah asked the people if the AAP had fulfilled any of its promises, including a pollution-garbage-corruption-free Delhi. He said that none of the promises made by the AAP were fulfilled
During the rally, Mr. Shah reiterated that the BJP planned not only to continue the ongoing welfare schemes but better them. “A very serious lie has been spread by the AAP, I was told by people working in my home that they are getting calls saying that if the BJP comes to power, it will stop the welfare schemes for the poor of the capital. But I am telling you today, PM Modi has said that no welfare schemes will be stopped in Delhi. And what he says, he makes sure it happens.”
“I want to appeal to the AAP not to spread these lies, but I know it will continue this dirty politics because those who did not listen to Anna Hazare will not listen to me also,” Mr. Shah said.
