BJP MP seeks CM, DGP’s intervention to halt ‘land grab’

Telangana BJP MP urges intervention to stop illegal land grabbing near ORR, alleging connivance of officials and influential individuals.
Telangana BJP Medak MP M. Raghunandan Rao has urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Director General of Police Jitender to immediately intervene and halt the “forcible land grabbing” process underway in a prime location between Sangareddy and Rangareddy districts.
At a press conference held at the State office here on Thursday, the MP alleged that certain influential persons in connivance with the government officials have been building an illegal wall to grab 25 acres at a site that is just two kilometres from the Outer Ring Road (ORR) for the past few days in violation of the standing High Court orders.
The BJP leader has charged that the land is part of 85 acres of “unclaimed” land located between Kodankal and Velemela mandals and it was being used by tribals for agriculture for years but these people were sought to be evicted illegally with the Revenue officials also coming out with “questionable orders” to help the alleged usurpers.
Mr. Rao said the Chief Minister had made lofty promises of safeguarding the lands of the poor and the tribals usurped during the previous BRS regime during the election campaign and also about bringing out a new Revenue Act in the place of the contentious ‘Dharani’ portal. But, as far as he was concerned, it appeared “nothing much has changed except the ruling party” as the land grabbing has been continuing in and around the ORR indiscriminately. “Those with big money bags have only changed their party colours and are trying to influence the government machinery to grab the lands,” he maintained.
The action of the Revenue authorities concerned in the current episode goes against standing instructions of the CCLA not to resort to change in ownership of land in the name of correcting “wrong entries” and that the government land has to be protected at any cost, he added.
