
BIS cracks down on warehouses of Amazon, Flipkart for non-certified products in T.N.

It was found that some products were stored and sold without the ISI mark, though they were covered under the BIS mandatory certification.
Two teams of officials conducted the raids at different locations, based on information about alleged violations, and seized non-certified products, said a press release.
In the raid conducted on the premises of Amazon Seller Services Private Limited, Durainallur village, Tiruvallur, the team seized 3,376 products without the standard mark worth ₹36 lakh.
The team collected evidence of violation of various quality control orders related to insulated flasks, insulated food containers, metallic potable water bottles, ceiling fans, and toys.
According to BIS Act 2016, the products cannot be sold or stored without the BIS standard mark.
Similarly, another raid was conducted on the premises of Flipkart India Private Limited, Veppampattu Road, Koduvalli, in Tiruvallur district, wherein 286 packs of baby diapers, 26 stainless steel water bottles, 10 insulated steel bottles, and 108 casseroles were seized.
