Autorickshaw drivers affiliated with CITU protest for welfare board, action against illegal rentals, and government ride-booking app.
A section of autorickshaw drivers owing allegiance to the CITU, took out a protest rally to press for various demands on Tuesday.
The drivers demanded the establishment of a welfare board for unorganised workers, action against unauthorised two-wheeler rentals and introduction of a government ride-booking mobile app on the lines of the apps successfully operational in cities like Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, some trade unions, including the AITUC, had deferred the protest plan following assurances from officials that measures would be initiated on the demands within a month.
