Asaduddin Owaisi demands equal fund allocation for Telangana, criticizes Union government for unfair treatment in development projects.
Hyderabad parliamentarian Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday demanded that the Union government bring about parity in terms of fund allocation between other States and Telangana. Mr. Owaisi was speaking at the all-party meeting, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, that sought to discuss pending issues between the Union government and the State.
The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president welcomed the meeting and said, “I feel that the government of India is not treating fairly and justly the people of Telangana. It is unfortunate that despite having eight MPs from BJP, including some union ministers, justice is not being done to Telangana in terms of sanctioning projects.”
Mr Owaisi said that while the Prime Minister spoke about the Regional Ring Road in one of his speeches, a sanction from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is awaited. Similarly, a sanction from the Ministry of Urban development was awaited. He also spoke about how some States that are smaller than Telangana have more Indian Police Service officers. While a proposal was made to increase the number of such officers in the State, it is yet to be approved, he said.
