During a podcast interview, Andrew Garfield called attention to the war in Gaza that has killed more than 41,000 Palestinians since October last year.
Actor Andrew Garfield called attention to the war in Gaza during an interview to promote his new movie, “We Live in Time.”
During an appearance on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast that was recorded live Thursday at 92nd Street Y in New York, Garfield was asked by host Josh Horowitz about what kind of role he wants next, which the actor replied to by bringing attention to Palestinians in Gaza.
“We should be putting our energy toward something that actually matters,” he said. “Maybe the lives of, I don’t know, Palestinians in Gaza right now. Maybe that’s where we put our hearts and our energy in, and anyone suffering, anyone oppressed, anyone that is suffering under the weight of the horrors of our world right now, anyone who doesn’t have a choice in living lives of dignity. That’s where our energy should be going right now.”
Garfield’s response was met with applause from the audience at the live recording.
Last year, the actor was one of the many creatives who signed the Artists4Ceasefire letter urging President Joe Biden to facilitate a cease-fire in Gaza. Since October 2023, more than 41,000 Palestinians have been killed in the war in Gaza.
