Andhra Pradesh govt. committed to protecting waqf properties, asserts Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Justice has been done to Muslims during the TDP term, and they will be better off under the NDA rule now, he says.
Extending his Ramzan greetings to the Muslim brethren at the Iftar hosted for them by the State government here on Thursday, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the TDP government had protected the waqf properties in the unified State, and that it was committed to doing the same now.
Mr. Naidu asserted that during the TDP term justice had been done to the Muslims on all fronts, and assured them that they would be better off under the NDA rule.
In his brief speech, Mr. Naidu said the TDP had a long association with the minorities, and recalled that the Minorities Finance Corporation was the brainchild of former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao, during whose helm several schemes were implemented for the welfare of the Muslims and other minority communities.
Mr. Naidu pointed out that the Haj House in Hyderabad was built during the TDP term. Foundation was laid for the Haj House in Amaravati, the present capital of Andhra Pradesh, but it was stuck due to the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government’s negligence, he alleged.
The Chief Minister noted that a sum of ₹5,300 crore was allocated to the minorities in the 2025-26 Budget, and that it reflected the government’s resolve to uplift them in various spheres.
The Waqf Board was reconstituted after it became defunct due to G.O. No.43, which had been cancelled after the NDA came to power.
Ministers N. Md. Farooq (Law and Justice and Minority Welfare) and Kollu Ravindra (Mines and Geology), and Guntur East MLA Mohammed Naseer Ahmed took part.
