Ahead of ‘Thai Poosam’ festival to be held at Sri Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple in Palani in Dindigul district, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister P.K. Sekar Babu and Food and Civil Supplies Minister R. Sakkarapani presided over a meeting held in Dindigul on Monday to discuss the arrangement for the 10-day event starting on February 5. Thai Poosam will be celebrated on February 11.

Sekar Babu and Food and Civil Supplies Minister R. Sakkarapani presided over a meeting held in Dindigul on Monday to discuss the arrangement for the 10-day event starting on February 5. Thai Poosam will be celebrated on February 11.
Addressing mediapersons following the meeting, Mr. Sekar Babu said all arrangements were being made for the smooth conduct of the event. Last year, around 12 lakh devotees participated in the festival. This year, more devotees were expected, he said.
Adequate arrangements were being made to provide drinking water, toilet facilities, medical assistance and accommodation to the devotees. Over 20,000 devotees would be provided annadhanam every day during the event. There would be no special darshan for devotees for three days from Thai Poosam, the Minister said.
Mr. Sekar Babu said annadhanam would be provided to the students of the institutions run by the HR & CE Department in Palani. Quality food, which would be checked, would be provided to the devotees during the festival.
Dindigul MP R. Sachithanantham, Secretary to Tourism, Culture and Religious Endowments Department B. Chandra Mohan and Collector M.N. Poongodi were present during the meeting.
The Minister also inaugurated the renovated car of Periyanayaki Amman Temple.
