Roadside eatery owner sets example by operating with FSSAI licence, offering quality rice items at affordable rates.
At a time when many roadside eateries flout food safety norms at will, a makeshift roadside eatery owner here has set an example by operating it with the licence of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). When R.O. Anbarasan, who holds a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering, thought of starting a roadside eatery, the first thing he decided was to get a licence under the Food Safety and Standards Act. .
He applied online on the web portal of FSSAI by providing all needed information After the standard protocol, the FSSAI officials issued a licence to him. He thereafter started his roadside eatery venture near the ESI Hospital at Periya Milaguparai under the name of “VERIETYFY”.
He sells only a variety of rice items at the makeshift eatery. He prepares food items at his home at Samayapuram and brings them by vehicle. He displays under the shadow of a foldable tent with the background that clearly displays the FSSAI licence number. He charges just ₹5 for a scoop of rice.
Most of his customers are visitors to the patients at the ESI Hospital and students of a few nearby colleges, “I really admire the way this eatery is being run. The environment is clean and neat. I have not come across the street vendors, who possess the FSSAI licence. It is appreciable,” said a girl student of a nursing college, who is a regular customer.
Mr. Anbarasan said that his aim was to ensure that people were getting quality food. He had been following all rules and regulations while preparing the food and displaying them.
“Many appreciate me for running the eatery with FSSAI licence. I charge a very nominal rate for the food items, but people should not think that the food items are inferior in quality. This is among the reasons for me to get the licence before starting the venture,” he said..
